the prize

  • Up to 5000€ worth of Platform.sh sponsoring credit value and support between 6 months to 1 year (in the form of consultations, guidance, industry expertise, industry contacts, industry resources, security audits, diversity training, and more) for 6 months to 1 year to the winner. This sponsorship will solely consist of Platform.sh credit value and not cash.

Nominations will open at 9 am CET on 27 June 2024 and close on 12 July 2024 at 11:59 pm CET [Updated dates: open at 9 am CET on 27 June 2024 and close on 04 October 2024 at 11:59 pm CET]. The prize is non-redeemable for cash, and community voting results are final. The Terms and Conditions outlined below apply to the participants of this competition. All information will be managed following our privacy policy.

Nomination process and eligibility

  • Nominations will open at 9 am CET on 26 June 2024 and close on 12 July 2024 at 11:59 pm CET. [Updated dates: open at 9 am CET on 27 June 2024 and close on 04 October 2024 at 11:59 pm CET].

  • Nominations must be submitted via the nomination form.

  • Nominations submitted via any other method will not be considered.

  • Participants are eligible for self-nominations.

  • Projects eligible for nomination must adhere to the following:

  • Created more than 1 year ago (since the first public release).

  • Be related to JavaScript, frontend or backend. This includes frameworks, Node modules, frontend libraries, and more.

  • Use one of the OSI-approved licenses.

  • The project may not be a for-profit project, or receive substantial support from large entities monthly.

Voting process

  • While everyone can nominate a project, only the top 5 submitted projects will be open to a vote by the community. Our judging committee will complete a comprehensive vetting process of all submitted projects to select the top 5 projects for the voting round. This ensures votes are unique and representative of this community. 

  • Voting will take place via a form submission. The voting scores will be made public at the end of the voting process to keep transparency with the community.

Terms and Conditions


1. Introduction
1.1. These terms and conditions ("Terms") govern the dotJS Open Source Project Competition ("Competition") organized by Platform.sh SAS and dotConferences ("Organizer"). By entering the Competition, participants agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms.

2. Eligibility
2.1. The Competition is open to individuals and teams working on open-source projects.
2.2. Employees, contractors, and agents of Platform.sh, dotConferences and Welcome to the Jungle, and its affiliates, as well as their immediate family members, are not eligible to participate.
2.3. Nominations will open at 9 am CET on 27 June 2024 and close on 12 July 2024 at 11:59 pm CET. [Updated dates: open at 9 am CET on 27 June 2024 and close on 04 October 2024 at 11:59 pm CET].

2.4. Participants must submit their nominations via the entry form: https://forms.gle/kLBcsD9Hoztovy9z8
2.5. Nominations submitted via any other method will not be considered.
2.6. Participants are eligible for self-nominations.
2.7. Projects that can be nominated must adhere to the following:
i. Be more than 1 year old (since the first public release);
ii. Be related to JavaScript, frontend or backend. This includes frameworks, Node modules, frontend libraries, and more;
iii. Use one of the OSI-approved licenses;
iv. The project may not be a for-profit project, or receive substantial support from large entities on a monthly basis.

3. Entry Requirements
3.1. Each entry must include:
i. Project name and description.
ii. Link to the project repository and project information.
iii. Names and contact information of all team members.
iv. Entries must be submitted by the deadline specified in the nominations process.

4. Judging and Voting
4.1. Projects will be reviewed by a panel of judges selected by the Organizer.
4.2. The judging panel will evaluate entries based on innovation, impact, and technical quality criteria.
4.3. The community will vote on five shortlisted projects as described above. Voting will be conducted online and results are final.

 

5. Prizes
5.1. The winning project will receive a credit-based sponsorship valued up to 5000€ from Platform.sh SAS based on the needs of the project which will be defined post-confirmation of the winning project and during consultations with the winning project and its team.
5.2. The sponsorship includes support in the form of consultations, guidance, industry expertise, industry contacts, industry resources, security audits, diversity training and more with a credit value that may extend up to the value of 5000€ over 6 months to 1 year post-award as of October 2024.

5.3. Support may involve consultations with industry experts and other resources deemed appropriate by the Organizer.
5.4. The prize is non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash or direct funding.

 

6. Winner Announcement
6.1. The winner will be announced in August 2024 via an online communication channel managed by the Organizer.
6.2. The Organizer will notify the winner via the contact information provided during entry.
6.3. If the winner cannot be contacted or fails to claim the prize within 30 days, the Organizer reserves the right to select an alternate winner.

 

7. Intellectual Property
7.1. Participants retain ownership of their project's intellectual property.
7.2. By entering the Competition, participants grant the Organizer a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, and display their project for promotional purposes.

 

8. Disqualification
8.1. The Organizer reserves the right to disqualify any entry that does not comply with these Terms.
8.2. Entries that contain illegal, offensive, or inappropriate content will be disqualified.

 

9. Liability
9.1. The Organizer is not responsible for any damage, loss, or injury resulting from participation in the Competition.
9.2. Participants agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Organizer from any claims arising out of their participation in the Competition.

 

10. Privacy
10.1. The Organizer will collect and process personal data in accordance with their respective Privacy Policies: (Platform.sh) and (dotConferences).
10.2. By entering the Competition, participants acknowledge the processing of their personal data in accordance with clause 10.1.

 

11. Amendments
11.1. The Organizer reserves the right to amend these Terms at any time.
11.2. Any amendments will be posted on the competition website and will be effective immediately upon posting.

 

12. Governing Law
12.1. These Terms are governed by the laws of France, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes and any claims arising out of or in connection with the Competition shall be exclusively settled by the Commercial court of Paris or any court of competent jurisdiction in Paris (France).
